In severe cases of Peyronie’s disease, if a patient is not a candidate for injection therapy, or if other treatment methods have failed, surgery may be necessary to correct curvature. Surgical therapies for Peyronie’s disease have very high success rates, and include:

  • Penile Plication– During this procedure, stitches are placed directly into the penile tissue on the side of the penis opposite the curvature to “tighten” the tissue and bend the penis back into a straight position.
  • Penile Plaque Incision And Grafting– During this procedure, which is performed for severe curvature, the scar tissue causing the curvature is removed, and is replaced using a graft of synthetic or biological material
  • Insertion of a Penile Prosthesis– In men with both Peyronie’s disease as well as erectile dysfunction that is not corrected with medications or injections, placement of a penile prosthesis, following by “molding” of the penis in the operating room and over time, can be used to correct penile curvature.
